The Cheerful Box for 2014 and beyond

Why The Cheerful Box?

Literally inside a box we can find a variety of school supplies, reading materials and a lot more, and that box can only be transported through the help of cheerful givers.

For me, as an individual WE don’t have to be financially well in order to help others, time and effort will do.  Since many are willing to step up and do their share but don’t know how to reach the kids in the mountain, so as a call for social responsibility I am willing to be a cheerful messenger. For 10 untiring  years doing the same thing I personally vouch myself and it’s proven that I’m capable to do so.

The Cheerful Box will  remain always open to those who are willing to share school supplies to the needy kids in the mountain. And rest assured that all turnovers will be well documented and accounted.
It is indeed more than personal, helping our needy kids must take great responsibility a responsibility like a father to all, taking care of their  needs, although not  hundred percent support but at least backup them  to help eradicate poverty, it is like giving them the extra tool to go extra mile to their path of education.

My 2013 life at a glance

My 2013 it is " mixed awesome and a bit down" but summing up everything.. all days are smooth.

January to March - I was at the peak of my career back in manila working for a company that somehow taught me to be tough and straightforward dealing with different kinds of people/employee under my shades, although it didn’t prosper because I gave up because I have to leave.. going back here in Zamboanga to see my mom and assist her for her medical appointments and processes.

April - Is the month where I found unexpected new friends, real friends from somewhere I didn’t expect to go but I was able to reach there through my brother “Ricky”. It was an awesome month because aside from having the chance to be in a dream place I also had the great time meeting new friends, friends that are very opposite to my world but we have the same language of communications with the same purpose in life. The place that I am referring to is the Merloquet falls.

May to July - three months of bonding with my parents, meaning, I was jobless, awwww. Terrible months hah? Months that I was doing nothing, eating and sleeping was my favorite past time and I was very busy recuperating from, you know, laziness . But what I am really thankful for during those times, is the precious moment living together with my mom and dad, my true best friends are the only two fans who never leave me during my times when I was out of the spot light. My parents made me feel once again the meaning of care that they are just there waiting for the words to be said from my mouth, the words of a son saying mom, dad, can I rest for a while? Can you help me? My dad said it was the most beautiful and unexpected words came from his son who once was wearing a heart of steel when it comes to asking for help from his parents and now here you are. Before, all I ever wanted is to help them, give them the needs they want and be not a baggage to their lives without even knowing that I am getting farther and farther from them. I have laid my card perfectly, I built the best castle of unity and were able to establish a parapet of understanding so no one can ever trespass our community of love and care.

August to September - Bonding, Swimming, laughing, dreaming and everything. The most exiting months for me, me and my Latuan-Sapa moro childhood friends we were able to experience the best happiness in life again as if we turned back the hands of time to where we used to go and do like swimming. I only have few friends back in our place, but these few are among the best for last, as the song goes by “ If I have only one friend left I want it to be you” and I want it to be them. Sounds selfish but only time can prove and explain to people whom who don’t believe what I’m saying.

October - I thought we (God and I) had a misunderstanding because of a lot of things happened to my life. One of which is that I didn’t ask him the things that I first thought not usable, and then He gave me more than the personal things I asked for. The month of October was so light for me, everything went perfect and so smooth. God explains me once again the meaning of virtue. Life is like a clock we people should not rush our wants, instead pray that we may obtain our needs in due time because waiting for it patiently makes us more determined and strong being.
November - Doors of opportunity opened left and right, I got projects from Manila and met lots of good people. I also went to two different schools in Zamboanga, gave them things/school supplies, supplies from the good people who care for the good future of some needy school children in the mountain. That journey made me more active to my mission in life, the mission that no one can ever destruct even the strongest hurricane. It clearly stated that you don’t have to be moneyed to give back, and giving back doesn’t rely on the status of one person. He who has the heart of giving must be accompanied by someone who has the heart of extending his time and effort to reach others in need. Please visit www.thecheerfulbox.wordpress.com

December - The CHOCOBUM month, one of the most wonderful time of the year, I’m sure a lot of you finds so strange about this chocobum word, chocobum is a cocktail drink for men it’s a mixed rhum (tanduay) milo, coffee, and iced tea perfect with crashed ice, my goodness, you can drink it till you drop whit no hangover, take note no hangover at least per my alcohol resistant body So since we all both like the drinks so much aside from it is not that so hard at least the taste but, man.. the impact, you will feel the roller coaster ride even you’re not riding a roller coaster .. hahahha.. so the 3 or four of us agreed to name our group CHOCOBUM boys the last pogi. Again, THE LAST POGI whether you like it or not hahaha.

Time flies so fast, my January to December was a mixed awesome and a bit down but summing up everything, my year was full of uncontrollable happiness because of the overflowing blessings I received all trough out the year.

I am closing my 2013 book with excitement, I can really feel and sense it that I will be out of my bat cave this first quarter of happy 2014 and I can also feel my intense hearth beating somehow saying, hey mr. Bucoy you’ll not only be out of your cave this year but you’ll be flying out of your territory to discover more of what’s in store for you this 2014. Think Positive.

Dare to Care (DTC) Shares Love at Sapa Moro Elementary School

December 18, 2014 - Just in time-together with the teachers of Sapa Moro Elementary School teachers Eden Deleon and Novelyn Galvez through the help of  Dare to Care Group from the States, school kids from Sapa Moro Elementary School were able to experience a happy Christmas that added more spirit to their Christmas Party.

A hilly side and 80-100 kilometers away from the  City of Zamboanga there lies a very peaceful and beautiful school called  Sapa Moro Elementary School, a kinda far from the busy city but the school owns a charm and calm beauty, a paradise for all especially for the students/people who lives nearby. Calm and beautiful at least per my observation.

This School "Sapa Moro Elementary School" is in need more of HELP especially the school kids, where  among them are somehow struggling to go to school everyday, some  are only wearing busted slippers everyday just to attend classes, that made more sad when I saw some of them  when I visited the school.

From this day on, DTC and I and some people with kind heart will continue to give love to these kids  and let them feel that they are loved not just for the sake of this season "Christmas" but all the days of their school life.

Thank you so much Dare to Care (DTC) for making these kids feel the true meaning of Christmas.

I would also like to thank my Cousin Emily Bucoy-Delos Reyes for Donating boxes of ballpen, notebooks and colored papers.

Note: This is DTC's second series of Christmas gift giving. First week of December was at Latuan Elementary school.

ZNHS WEST Cares Reception & Study Center for Children (RSCC)

Zamboanga City December 8, 2013 - Visiting orphanage has always been in my Christmas wish list every year-end ever since I’ve started my social responsibility appetite many years back.

Just recently, my cousin Emily Invited me to accompany them to visit RSCC in Talon-talon, Zamboanga City an orphanage runs by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 9. Emily Bucoy-Delos Reyes and Her high school batch mates organized a very memorable mission, an owe-inspiring acts that will leave a happy memory to a lot of kids of RSCC.

The group were able to entertain 34 kids and at the same time feed them with good food and feed their heart with warm love and care. Imagine if all the people here in Zamboanga will make the same cause as this  group did, we will have the best place to live in, a place for everyone, a very beautiful community for all.

The most awaited privilege speech of Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago vs Senator Enrile

I can hear it... the ticking of the clock...  and the bomb is about to explode!

The most and the hottest  issue in the senate today, this is more than the Typhoon Yolanda Issue that will hit the air wave  this afternoon 3:30 PM Ph Time.

A lot of us are eagerly waiting for Sen. Miriam's reply to  last week  Sen. Enrile's speech Vs Her.

"Mr. President, I know that I should not dignify with answers these obvious lies flowing as they did from the hallucinated imaginings of a spiteful and bitterly hostile mind. But, I must! I must debunk these unbridled lies from the records of this Senate for the sake of honest truth." - Sen. Enrile

Lenovo ideapad s400 Touch

Nowadays laptop users prefers  handy and easy to operate unit especially Graphic Designers. Lenovo ideapad s400 Touch - at first I was quite hesitant to buy this kind of  unit because I find it kinda light and low in performance based on the articles, reviews and forums I've read I but a gave my best try and luck to experience this kind of laptop.

Well good for me I've made the right decision, though it's not that fancy one but per my taste and alobservation the performance is very  excellent, I didn't experience malfunctions so far and no over heating.

I am only using Adobe Photoshop CS5 so far there's no signs of incompatibility problem yet.

What I like about this machine? is its design "slim" and touch,   though the battery is quite weak it only lasts for 3 hours.  To date this is a month old lappy now.

Keep Calm The Philippines is Under Care

In times like this, "THANK YOU" words are not suffice to pay back to people/countries  who are untiringly working hand in hand sending medical assistance, foods, troops and etc. to the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Hiayan). World leaders, private organizations and individuals, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike are extending their prayers, ways and means to help thousands of victims who are under the state of calamity especially in Tacloban, Cebu and neighbor islands where Hiayan left her juice of devastation.

We Filipinos are known for being very strong when it comes to difficulties and trials, but in situation like this "strong" will just be a word and no justice without the help of so many. We are stronger now because of the help of the UN, USA, JAPAN, ISRAEL, INDONESIA, KWUAIT, UAE, KANADA,  TAIWAN, GREAT BRITAIN, KINGS, QUEENS, STUDENTS, NGOs, ARTISTS, MUSICIANS and more. Let's face it, tho we Filipinos are not blessed with a well and financially sustained country,  but we are blessed with countries full of good people in it. This is a statement that we owns the world. Thank you donors for making the Filipino people feel this way.

Adventure to the less traveled world in lonely planet

"Survivor world Rio Vitali edition 8th of september 2013 a day before the Zamboanga City siege"

No hindrances for people like us who wanted to experience another one-of-a-kind adventure while bonding and reuniting ties which is our own way of small get-together instead of climbing up neighbor's rooftop and stare the milky way. Another "dream come true" getaway with friends, a simple adventure yet worth a million dollar experience. This is our Rio Vitali experience

Six days before the Rio Vitali superb experience I got a text message from my friend Norman Ignacio, an invite to go swimming, it was almost a short notice for me because I already commit to the other group to go caving on the same day but I replied yes to him with excitement and no hesitation beacuae Rio Vitali has been in my dream to go to very long time ago. So Norman brought his sister floriza and also invited his cousins Laling and Popoy Cabayacruz, a total of five adventurer kuno made their way to Rio Vitali packed with suman de saging and rice made by Norman's mom for the viand it's all up to us what or where could we hunt for some but we decided to buy canned goods and tuyo / dried fish along the way instead of hunting wild pig, fish or birds :)

It took us I think 15 to 20 minutes to reach the site. Warning to those who want to go to Rio Vitali river don't drive a city car, you may drive motor bike, habal-habal or better yet drive your 4wd carabao and fuel up some energy because the road going there is horrifying. You will encounter a roller coaster ride or more than that "calling on the attention of the people concerned" Back to our story, we played, we hunted paku and tahba, we laughed and etc. The rain came down then sun after, still we managed to give justice to what our adventure means. We did our survivor version successfully but note this is not just a survivor USA, Asia or Austrailia this is survivor world Rio Vitali edition Sunday 8th of September a day before the Zamboanga City siege.

oops no objections please. Thanks to Norman, Popoy, Floriza and Laling.

Oratio Emperata for Deliverance from Calamities

Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to you in gratitude for the wonders of creations of which we are part, for your providence in sustaining us in our needs, and for your wisdom that guides the course of the Universe. We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation. We have not been good stewards of nature. We have confused your command to subdue the earth.

The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference. Typhoons, floods heavy rains and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity. We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins. We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the treat of calamities, natural and man-made. We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit one God, Forever and ever. Amen
